New Business Qualification Launch at the CBI

The UK launch of the European Business Competence Licence for SMEs and Divisional Managers

The European Business Competence Licence is an established qualification in Europe showing that the holder has sufficient knowledge and competence in the elements of business enabling them to operate a business or a business division of a large organisation.

The concept being, that there should be a minimum standard for the business person that is accepted throughout Europe, ensuring that those lending to start up businesses and business managers have base competency skills.

This 30 hour course covers the basic competencies needed: • to understand business accounts, • set prices and control costs, • measure business performance and • understand basic legal structure for business.

Training organisations and colleges can now offer this new qualification for business start-ups, staff development and for those completing professional courses.

With nearly 8000 holders of the qualification in Europe the introduction to UK and Ireland will enable British and Irish business person to have a way of meeting this standard and of working throughout Europe in the future.

The EBC*L qualification contains just what a business person “needs to know” in order to operate competently, it is not designed as a full management qualification.
